He was born on 1 April 1956 in Bhinmal, Jalore district, Rajasthan. His family later moved to Mumbai. He studied at Marwadi Vidyalaya, graduated from Lala Lajpatrai College and completed a law degree at K. C. College. In 1980 he started his own construction business, Neelam Realty, and is now Chairman and Managing Director of Neelam Realtors Pvt. Ltd.
His company's projects include Atria Mall in Worli, Star Mall in Dadar and Solaris in Saki Naka, along with townships in Mulund East (Neelam Nagar), Mulund West (Vardhman Nagar), Ghatkopar and Nahur. Atria Mall received a Best Mall Award in 2012.
Vardhan has held senior roles in many community bodies, including the Bharat Jain Mahamandal, All India Shwetambar Jain Conference, Jain International Trade Organisation (JITO), the Sirohi Jalore Pravasi Sangh and the Bhinmal Jain Sangh. As president of the Bharat Jain Mahamandal he led a large rally on Mahavir Janma Kalyanak from Nariman Point to Chowpatty, with about 24,000 Jains taking part. He has been national president of the All India Shwetambar Jain Conference and of the Akhil Bharatiya Saudharmvrit Tapogachchhiya Tristutik Jain Sangh, a past president of JITO, and is now a JITO adviser.
He has had temples built at Palitana, Ghatkopar, Mulund, Nahur and Tardeo, and the family has built dharamshalas at Shankheshwar, Mohankheda and Palitana. He is a trustee of several trusts, and has been given the Samaj Ratna title by the Bharat Jain Mahamandal, the Mohankheda Gaurav honour, and a Samaj Ratna award by the Jain Patrakar Sangh.
He believes that anyone can live for themselves, but a true person lives for others.
