Govind Vyas of Sadri, Godwad — an example of service to society

Govind Vyas of Sadri, in Rajasthan's Pali district, is described in this Shatabdi Gaurav profile as a respected name in the Godwad region, known for his simple nature and his service to society. He regards the late Ghisulal Rathod and Pradeep Rathod as his inspiration.
Govind Prasad Vyas was born on 21 October 1972 to Jagdish Prasad Vyas and Ramidevi Vyas. He studied at schools in Sadri and completed his higher studies at Lachoo Memorial College in Jodhpur. He joined his father's bus business at 18, while still studying, because of his father's health, and became a full-time businessman after graduating.
His father had founded Vyas Travels around 1960 with a single bus, at a time when owning a bicycle was a big thing. Today Vyas Travels runs bus services on the Sadri–Pindwara and Sadri–Pali–Jodhpur routes and is a known name across Godwad. Vyas also developed one of the first residential colonies in Sadri, a 124-plot colony on Bhadras Road.
He is well known for jivdaya, including cow service and care for animals. In 2016 the Rajasthan government honoured him with the Bhamashah Samman on Republic Day for his service, and in 2017 he received a district-level social worker award. He is a co-opted member of the Sadri Nagar Palika, president of the Sanatan Dharm Trust, Sadri, and treasurer of the Godwad Bus Owners Association.
Vyas speaks modestly about his work and says that many people in society have done even more. The profile closes with a local saying in the Godwad dialect praising his service to the town of Sadri.
