Rotary Club of Pune Far East honours Dinesh Oswal with ‘Far Eastern Star Award’

Pune. Honouring dedication to social service, humanity and selfless service, Rotary Club of Pune Far East presented Rotarian Dinesh Oswal with the prestigious ‘Far Eastern Star Award for Outstanding Performance’ for his excellent work in Rotary year 2020-21. The honour is a symbol of appreciation for the remarkable social and public service work carried out under his leadership.

The award carries special meaning for Dinesh Oswal, because he believes social service is done not to win awards or recognition, but to help the needy and to fulfil one’s duty towards humanity. Yet when selfless efforts are honoured, enthusiasm and a sense of responsibility towards service grow further.

During the harsh phase of the Covid pandemic, the oxygen concentrator project run under Dinesh Oswal’s leadership was an important chapter of his service journey. At a time when there was a severe shortage of oxygen across the country and patients in hospitals and Covid care centres needed help, public service projects worth about Rs 75 lakh were realised through this initiative. Under it, oxygen concentrators were delivered to hospitals, Covid care centres and needy communities in various parts of Maharashtra.

During Rotary year 2020-21, under his leadership the highest amount of donations was raised, and remarkable achievements were also made in terms of the volume and financial value of service work. Instead of crediting this success to any one person, Dinesh Oswal described it as the result of the collective efforts of donors, associates, Rotarians and volunteers.

He expressed special gratitude to Diwali Ben Charitable Trust, Bardoli, America and all associates. He also appreciated the guidance and encouragement of District Governor Rotarian Rashmi Kulkarni, and thanked all partner Rotary clubs, district leadership and fellow Rotarians who supported during the Covid crisis. Many associates, including Pankaj Patel, Harpal Narang, Sujit Doshi, Ajay Mehta, Jayesh Asher, Prabha Oswal and Nimmi Patel, played an active role in this service campaign. In difficult circumstances everyone came together and worked tirelessly to raise resources, coordinate and take help to the needy.

Dinesh Oswal thanked Rotary Club of Pune Far East president Rotarian Dr Jolly Sinha and the entire 2026-27 team for the honour. He said the greatest reward for him is the satisfaction of bringing positive change to the lives of needy people. The honour belongs to all the donors, associates, Rotarians and volunteers who made this service campaign a success.

In his message he said that although awards may honour one individual, meaningful social service is always the result of collective effort. With this spirit of service, dedication, compassion and humility, his resolve is ‘Seva Paramo Dharma’ and ‘Service Above Self’, that is, service to society before oneself.
